Practice-oriented training to become a product manager

Franklin Institute of Applied Sciences, in cooperation with Product People GmbH (Remote)

08/2025 – HEUTE

As part of my practice-oriented training as a product manager, I applied and deepened central methods of modern product development. One focus was on agile ways of working and the iterative development of solutions. By working with Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), assumptions could be checked early, risks reduced and products could be improved step by step.

Another focus was on user research and user-centered product development. This included qualitative and quantitative methods such as interviews and surveys as well as the creation of personas, customer journeys and jobs-to-be-done analyses in order to understand user needs in a structured way and to derive informed decisions.

In addition, data-based success measurement was discussed. Business objectives were defined and made measurable by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to assess the use, engagement and impact of product decisions in a comprehensible manner and to optimize them in a targeted manner.

The training was strongly project-based and included the analysis of real problems, the development of concepts and the creation of prototypes. This allowed me to further consolidate a structured, analytical and practical approach to product management.

Jr. IT Project Coordinator

RAYLYTIC Software GmbH, Leipzig (Remote)

11/2024 – 05/2025

In my role as a Junior IT Project Coordinator, I supported the planning, coordination, and monitoring of IT and software projects in an agile environment using Scrum and Kanban. I contributed to structuring project activities, tracking progress, and identifying risks or bottlenecks to support reliable delivery.

A key part of my work involved analyzing and reporting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and improving ticket quality and backlog clarity, helping teams maintain consistent standards in documentation, prioritization, and acceptance criteria.

I was also responsible for Jira administration, including creating and maintaining dashboards, reporting project metrics, and supporting the continuous improvement of workflows, issue structures, and project configurations.

In addition, I assisted with project planning and documentation, supported initiatives in IT operations, and contributed to tasks related to the Information Security Management System (ISMS), helping ensure structured processes and compliance requirements were met.

PHP Web Developer

Webmedia Solution Hilcher, Ingolstadt

11/2021 – 11/2024

PHP Web Developer

Motor Nuetzel, Bayreuth

11/2020 – 01/2021

Apprenticeship – Specialist in Application Development (Dual Program)

XAVO AG, Bayreuth

09/2017 – 11/2020

Deputy Branch Manager

Deutsche Bank AG, Düsseldorf

07/2003 – 12/2012

In my role as a PHP Web Developer, I worked on the development and optimization of web-based solutions with a strong focus on usability, performance, and reliable data handling. A significant part of my work involved improving Google Shopping integrations, including optimizing product feeds, creating and maintaining CSV exports, and performing structured error analysis to ensure data accuracy and stable synchronization with external platforms.

I was also involved in the conceptualization and implementation of customer-oriented web portals based on TYPO3. This included translating requirements into functional structures, supporting the development of user-friendly interfaces, and ensuring that content and workflows aligned with business needs.

Another key area of responsibility was working with TYPO3 databases and forms. I created and maintained database structures, optimized forms, email templates, and registration processes, and helped improve data quality and process efficiency. Particular attention was given to creating clear, reliable input flows and reducing friction in user interactions.

Through this role, I gained practical experience in backend development, CMS-based portal architecture, structured data handling, and the continuous improvement of digital processes to support both business goals and user needs.

In my role as a PHP Web Developer, I supported the development and maintenance of internal web-based systems, with a strong focus on clarity, usability, and structured data management.

A central part of my work was creating clear and well-structured documentation for internal workflows and training purposes. This documentation helped standardize processes, improve knowledge transfer, and make daily operations more transparent for team members and new employees.

I also developed a user-friendly handbook for end users, designed to explain system functions in a practical and accessible way. The goal was to reduce onboarding time, minimize recurring questions, and enable users to work more independently and efficiently.

In addition, I worked on database management, including creating, extending, and maintaining database tables. This involved ensuring consistent data structures, supporting reliable system performance, and helping maintain data quality across different application areas.

Through this role, I gained hands-on experience in technical documentation, structured database work, and the importance of clear, understandable systems for both technical and non-technical users.

During my dual apprenticeship as a Specialist in Application Development, I built a solid foundation in software engineering, working on real business applications and internal systems in a professional development environment.

I was involved in software development across multiple layers, including the design and implementation of user interfaces, business logic, and database structures. This included translating functional requirements into technical concepts, supporting implementation, and ensuring that applications were stable, maintainable, and aligned with operational processes.

A significant part of my work focused on data management and operational systems. I supported the maintenance of master data, assisted with brand change processes, and worked with systems for tracking and tracing products, helping ensure data consistency, transparency, and reliable process flows across different departments.

During this time, I also gained experience with project methodologies, working in environments that used both agile approaches and waterfall models. This provided practical insight into planning, documentation, structured releases, and collaboration between technical and business teams.

In addition, I became familiar with testing, troubleshooting, and documentation, learning to analyze issues systematically, support debugging processes, and document technical solutions clearly so that they could be understood and maintained over time.

This apprenticeship gave me a strong technical and analytical foundation in software development, data structures, and structured project work, which continues to shape how I approach complex systems and digital products today.

In my role as Deputy Branch Manager, I supported the operational and strategic management of a large retail banking branch and acted as a representative of the Branch Manager in daily operations and decision-making. This included leading and coordinating a team of 57 employees, ensuring smooth workflows, clear communication, and consistent service quality.

I was responsible for supporting the achievement of sales and business targets and contributed to the management of international banking activities, particularly transactions and client relationships involving the United States and Asia. This work required careful consideration of regulatory, tax, and cultural frameworks, as well as precise coordination across departments.

Another key area of responsibility was training and compliance. I contributed to the development and implementation of training plans for employees and trainees, helping to ensure consistent professional development and knowledge transfer within the branch. At the same time, I worked closely with compliance and risk management departments to ensure that processes and advisory services met all regulatory requirements and internal policies.

This role strengthened my leadership, organizational, and communication skills, as well as my ability to balance business objectives, regulatory requirements, and team development in a complex and highly regulated environment.
